What is Your Favorite Carroll Shelby Vehicle? – Mr. Kustom Chicago

Carroll Shelby passed away last week, leaving behind a legacy of race car victories and street car performance. His first street car prototype, the CSX2000, bowed in 1962 and since then his name has been tied to muscle cars, sports cars, front-drive sport compacts, and even a chili mix.

Although Shelby is most famous for his work with Ford on the Cobra as well as the Daytona Coupe, GT40, Mustang GT350 and GT500, Ford GT, and the current Shelby GT500, he also worked with Dodge and Oldsmobile. During the 1980s Shelby worked with Dodge to build special-edition Chargers, Omni hatchbacks, Daytona fastbacks, Lancers, Shadows, Spirits, CSXs and even a special Dakota pickup. Shelby also had a hand in designing the original Dodge Viper in the early 1990s.

Later, Shelby prepared the Shelby Series 1, which was a clean-sheet design not based on a production car. Powered by a 4.0-liter V-8 lifted from the Oldsmobile Aurora, the Series 1 had an optional supercharger.
